Ab is the name of a surf break located by PLNU. It is filled with locals from the neighborhood as well as students attending the university. Despite the commotion of San Diego, often times there would be moments of pure power from nature without a surfer in sight. This painting is embellishes on the freedom and solitude waves have under a tangerine sunset.
I grew up in Laguna Beach and was instantly attracted to Point Loma when I was visiting schools. One thing Point Loma has that Laguna Beach doesn’t is sunsets reflecting both the ocean and the earth. There are times were the sky almost blends in with the cliffs under the right sunset. Those will stay in my mind for years to come.
