The Artist.
My name is Josh Brooks; I am a 22 year old artist and designer. I studied business and graphic design in college and graduated with a Graphic Design - Marketing degree. While in college, I found my creative inclination firstly in music and then through a visual art minor. I switched my major to Graphic Design from Finance soon after. Learning various skillsets such as painting, sculpting, and designing physical and digital products; I quickly realized I wanted to create everyday.
I grew up in Laguna Beach where it is a cultural hub for artists. My first plein air painting was completed in 7th grade. I have visited over 15 countries and one thing keeps me traveling, nature. Surfing, Skiing, and Snowboarding influenced most of my life. My mind correlates songs with moments and memories, such as “One Last Breath” by Creed while driving from Seattle to Whistler. I was born in Seattle, but moved to Laguna Beach on my 10th birthday. When I got glasses the same year, I remember experiencing the world for the first time again. Driving home the trees where different. The leaves where crawling in the wind no longer vibrating above the trunk.
The world became less abstract.
I began to realize my peculiar vision for the world within notebooks that were initially for poetry but quickly turned into sketchbooks. I often work with an ink brush tip pen to capture the moment in precise fluid motions. They are the driving force behind my creations now.
I seek to create the world, inspire a generation of artists, teach people to use creativity within all aspects of life.
I want to have lasting impact like Antoni Gaudi, Jeff Koons, Andy Warhol: leaving behind relics of design across various mediums.
